Referee who gave penalty against Leeds this season to take Forest game – it’s an uphill task

Leeds United have to bounce back quickly from that disappointing loss to Brighton over the weekend.

Up next for Daniel Farke’s side is Nottingham Forest, who are also struggling for form this season. Leeds have managed to keep themselves out of hot water all season. The Whites are in 16th place in the Premier League; five points better off than Forest.

Daniel Farke has come under a bit of pressure right from the last international break after a shock defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor.

But the Whites bounced back with a big win over West Ham. Forest have not been at the races this season and have won just one league game this campaign.

This weekend presents the perfect opportunity for one of the two teams to secure a huge win. This fixture should be seen as a winnable game for Leeds on paper; Forest have not won a league game since August.

Leeds already have an upper hand heading into this game as Sean Dyche’s side are in action midweek. This means they will have less rest days before the two sides meet this weekend.

Forest are also expected to have some key players out, with Douglas Luiz being assessed for the injury he picked up against Manchester United. Chris Wood is also a doubt, although Dyche has hinted that the striker could be involved.

Jarred Gillett appointed Nottingham Forest Leeds United referee

Fans will not be happy about who has been appointed as the official Nottingham Forest Leeds United referee.

The Premier League have announced Jarred Gillett will be in the middle at the City Ground on Sunday. Neil Davies and Eddie Smart will be the assistant refererees, and Anthony Taylor will be the fourth official with Matt Donohue on VAR duty.

Gillett has already been in charge of one Leeds game this season; the 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal. The referee gave a penalty when youngster Max Dowman was tripped in the box.

The Australian was also a huge talking point when Spurs faced Chelsea this past weekend, with many feeling he should have sent Rodrigo Bentacur off for a late challenge on Reece James.

Leeds need to shake off away form this season

At home, the Whites have been formidable, and have managed to get huge results. This season alone, Leeds have beaten Everton, held Newcastle and Bournemouth to draws and beat West Ham.

The away form however, is the huge concern heading into this weekend. Daniel Farke’s side have only picked up three points on the road this season. Outside the Wolves win, they have lost all four of the other matches. Leeds must find a way to get a result in such a key game.
