Jakobi Meyers-Patriots reunion ends as WR traded to AFC South team (report)

Jakobi Meyers wasn’t shy about expressing his desire for a fresh start. He’ll now get that in Jacksonville.

The wide receiver was traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Jaguars on Tuesday ahead of the 4 p.m. NFL trade deadline, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

The Raiders will receive fourth- and sixth-round picks.

Meyers requested a trade in the offseason but nothing came to fruition. Two weeks ago, he made it clear he still wanted to be moved as the deadline approached.

“Oh, for sure,” he replied when asked if he still wanted to be traded. “I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football. If I’m here, like I said, I’ll play good football. If I’m not here, I’ll go out there and play wherever I’m supposed to be.”

Meyers is in the final year of his three-year contract and wants a new one. His trade request over the summer came after he and the Raiders couldn’t come to terms on an extension.

The former New England Patriots wideout enjoyed his best season in 2024 when he set career highs with 87 receptions for 1,027 yards.

Many wondered whether the Patriots would explore bringing back Meyers to add to their wideout room. While wide receiver isn’t a big area of need for New England, he certainly would have made the room more dangerous.

The Raiders are 2-6 through their first eight games and sit in last place in the AFC West.

Meyers joins a Jaguars team that just beat the Raiders in Week 9.
