The NFL’s trade deadline is fast-approaching and teams are making their final moves for the second half of the 2025 season.
Several high-profile names have already been traded like quarterback Joe Flacco who went from the Cleveland Browns to the Cincinnati Bengals, pass rusher Jaelan Phillips who was traded from the Miami Dolphins to the Philadelphia Eagles and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers who was sent to Seattle from Las Vegas. However, none of those trades stunned the football world like what came next.
In a stunning move the New York Jets decided to trade star corner and former No. 4 overall pick Ahmad ‘Sauce’ Gardner.
New York sent its two-time First-Team All-Pro corner to the Indianapolis Colts for two first-round picks and wide receiver AD Mitchell, who was a second-round draft choice by the Colts just last year during the 2024 NFL draft.
Just a few minutes before the trade news was revealed by NFL insiders, Gardner broke the news to fans himself in a short message. “New York it’s been real,” he said with a green heart emoji matching the Jets colors.
Gardner wasn’t the only Jets star to react to the news, which stunned star pass rusher Jermaine Johnson, who took to social media with a gif showing his reaction.
New York currently owns the third-worst record in the NFL and appears ready to load up on picks for a potential run at a quarterback in the 2026 NFL draft.
