Green Bay Packers wide receiver targeted heavily by 1 NFL team before blockbuster trade

Today is the trade deadline for the 2025 NFL season, and many fans are wondering if the Green Bay Packers will be adding any talent. Of course, the Packers have already made arguably the biggest trade of the year, having acquired All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys for two first round picks and Kenny Clark before the regular season began.

However, with the plethora of injuries that Green Bay has suffered over the first half of the season, many fans would like to see the team add some talent to provide depth, or even trade away players on expiring contracts to get draft picks to make up for the ones they lost in the Parsons trade.

As of this writing, the Packers have not made any trades, but they have certainly been making some calls, and fielding others about players currently on their roster.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs was coveted by the Jacksonville Jaguars

One of the positions in which the Packers have found themselves thin is wide receiver. Jayden Reed is out for several more weeks as he recovers from a broken collar bone and Jones fracture, and Dontayvion Wicks has missed the last couple of games due to a calf injury.

Of course, Green Bay started the season without Christian Watson, who just returned a couple of weeks ago from a torn ACL suffered at the end of the 2024 NFL season.

Despite their being thin at wide receiver, and despite the fact that they are in first place in the NFC North, the Packers have been getting calls from other teams regarding Romeo Doubs, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, who called at least three times per Easton Butler:

Packers that have the best chance of being traded away (in my opinion):

EDGE Kingsley Enagbare

(JAX, SF, PHI)

WR Romeo Doubs

(JAX x3, NE, LV, PIT, CAR, + more)

WR Dontayvion Wicks

(NYG x2)

OT Rasheed Walker

(TB, LAC, +1)

TE Luke Musgrave

(KC, JAX + more)

OL Elgton Jenkins

(TB)…

Doubs has been one of Green Bay’s most targeted receivers in each of the past two seasons, but is currently in the final year of his rookie contract. Many teams may have felt the Packers would have liked to have traded Doubs for draft compensation in the event that they cannot re-sign him during the offseason.

That being said, with the latest injury to Tucker Kraft, Doubs should see even more targets come in his in the passing game.

Additionally, instead of landing Doubs, the Jaguars were able to acquire wide receiver Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders for a fourth round and sixth round pick earlier today.

This acquisition by Jacksonville likely means Green Bay is not moving Doubs this season.
