Seahawks beat reporter just sparked wild trade buzz with one deadline nugget

With the NFL trade deadline approaching by the hour, all eyes are on the Seattle Seahawks as a big-time buyer. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that the Seahawks are a legitimate contender this year, especially after their dismantling of the Washington Commanders in Week 9.

The only question is, who will the Seahawks go after? One Seahawks beat reporter just chimed in as the hour glass continues to dwindle on deadline day. Team beat reporter Corbin Smith commented on the team's impending deadline decisions:

"Based on what I've heard for the past several days, if team makes trade at all, Cesar Ruiz is probably the most likely player for to acquire today.

"But if you're looking for a stunner, keep tabs on the Maxx Crosby possibility. Seattle does have the goods to persuade."

The Seahawks might be in the running for a blockbuster Maxx Crosby trade

Say what you will about Smith. Yes, he has been hit and miss over his time covering the Seahawks. However, he is still a plugged-in source that many fans stay in tune with. So, this is well-worth paying attention to.

While the Las Vegas Raiders have remained steadfast in their tone around not trading star defensive end Maxx Crosby, everyone is holding their breath as the deadline passes. In the end, everything has a price, and that includes Crosby.

The seventh-year pro is now in the thick of his prime at 28 years old and the Raiders, meanwhile, are headed nowhere fast. That's something which hasn't changed all that much in the past few seasons. The Raiders have no answer at quarterback with the inconsistencies out of Geno Smith and are likely headed toward a top-10 pick in next year's draft.

Speaking of the 2026 NFL Draft, Seattle could offer up some of its capital in order to get a Crosby trade done. It'll take much more than just next year's capital, though.

Keeping it realistic, the Seahawks would very well have to part ways with two first-round picks and either a player or a combination of a couple other later picks in order to have a chance at landing the 4-time Pro Bowler.

Should the Seahawks offer up a pair of firsts and, say, cornerback Riq Woolen, would that suffice? If they wanted to hang onto Woolen amid some cornerback injury woes, though, maybe Seattle would just include an additional fourth-round pick or something along those lines.
