The awful Thierno Barry stat which makes Beto look good at Everton

A pretty remarkable statistic has just emerged about Everton striker Thierno Barry, and it actually makes Beto look good.

Thierno Barry arrived at Everton with great promise following a productive season in La Liga with Villarreal.

David Moyes committed a whopping £30m of his transfer budget to sign Barry, so fans were pretty excited.

But, it’s just not working out at the moment as he’s yet to score in his first 12 appearances and his all-round game hasn’t been particularly encouraging.

This awful statistic just says everything.

Everton’s Thierno Barry hasn’t even managed to get one shot on target

According to FotMob, Barry hasn’t managed to get a single shot on target since joining Everton in the summer.

The 23-year-old has a 0% shot accuracy from his seven efforts, and that profligate nature was certainly on show against Sunderland.

Barry missed an absolute sitter to put Everton 2-0 to the good at the Stadium of Light, and Moyes was visibly angry on the touchline.

In fact, after the game, the Scotsman said that missed chance totally changed the tide and it ultimately cost them the three points.

“After minutes or so I was thinking, ‘We’ve got this game, we’re playing so well and if we keep this up then we’ll be getting the goals’.

“We get one, hit the post twice, then Barry misses a big chance which would have made it 2-0. I thought that took the wind out of our sails a little bit.

“I think everybody sort of went, ‘Oh my goodness, we didn’t take the chance we got’, because Sunderland are one of the best defensive teams in the league at the moment and not giving away too many opportunities.”

Beto’s stats are better but still concerning

The fact that Barry hasn’t had a shot on target makes it pretty easy for Beto to instantly look better.

According to FotMob, the towering centre-forward has at least managed to get four of his 13 shots on target.

The former Udinese man has scored one goal from a 3.92 xG, so it shows just how wasteful he is in front of goal, too.

Everton are exploring the market for strikers ahead of the January transfer window, and Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee has been linked.

Former number nine Richarlison has also been linked with a return to Everton, although that seems unlikely.
