After a blowout win over the Washington Commanders in Week 9, the Seattle Seahawks proved to the NFL world that they are for real and plan on becoming a mainstay atop the league for now and years to come.
It was, frankly, embarrassing for the Washington Commanders, as Seattle kept their foot on the gas this entire time. Well, on Tuesday, just hours before the 2025 NFL trade deadline, the Seahawks swung a deal to bolster a position of need, trading for Rashid Shaheed, who was formely of the New Orleans Saints.
This trade is a major one, as Seattle helps out a position they could use a boost at, and they also lean into a team strength by making this move.

The one issue that this team has is being able to run the ball consistently, and a right guard upgrade might help them do that better. What you have to give GM John Schneider credit for is leaning into a team strength and adding a weapon.
Sam Darnold has played his tail off this year. He's thrown for 2,084 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He's leading the NFL in yards per attempt and yards per completon, so this is a QB and an offense that knows how to air it out.
It would not shock me to see Seattle making another deal here in the coming hours, but this move for Shaheed does indicate that the Seahawks want to make a legitimate run at this thing, as the receiver is a big play waiting to happen and fits this offense like a glove.
Shaheed is a free agent following the 2025 NFL Season.
