Cowboys add Pro Bowl DT Quinnen Williams from Jets

The Dallas Cowboys continue to make moves ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline. After adding linebacker Logan Wilson from the Cincinnati Bengals, many thought they would stop there.

The New York Jets made a big move by trading cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for two first-round picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.

Additionally, they parted ways with another key player on Tuesday. Three-time Pro Bowler Quinnen Williams is headed to Dallas to join the Cowboys. Insider Ian Rapoport reports that the Cowboys will send, among other things, a first-round pick to the Jets.

Williams, 27, was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Alabama. After signing a four-year, $32.5 million rookie contract, the Jets picked Williams’ fifth-year option in 2023.

He agreed to a four-year, $96 million deal that same year. He has two years left of his current deal, meaning the Cowboys will see at least two seasons of Williams, one of the best linemen in the league.

The defensive tackle has seven seasons under his belt, playing 99 games, where he has racked up 332 tackles, 40 sacks, eight forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries for 12 yards and one interception for seven yards.

This is a great pickup for the Jets, who previously acquired Wilson. The Micah Parsons trade to the Green Bay Packers left them a haul of first-round picks, and Jerry Jones didn’t hesitate to use one of them to land one of the best DTs out there.

After losing to the Arizona Cardinals (27-17) on Monday, the Cowboys’ front office got to work and added two intriguing pieces. It remains to be seen if they will add more firepower to the defense before the trade deadline strikes.
