West Ham “monster” is ‘actively preparing’ January move away from London Stadium

West Ham finally picked up their first win under Nuno Espírito Santo at the weekend, beating Newcastle United 3-1 in what felt like a much-needed turning point.

Goals from Lucas Paquetá, Tomas Soucek, and a Sven Botman own goal helped lift the mood around the London Stadium — but the Hammers remain in a precarious position near the foot of the Premier League table.

With January approaching, a critical window looms. While reinforcements are being lined up — including Lazio forward Tijjani Noslin — Nuno is also planning to trim his squad and move on several fringe players.

One man who now looks certain to depart is Guido Rodríguez.

According to Claret & Hugh, Argentine midfielder Guido Rodríguez is “actively preparing” for a January transfer, despite being under contract with West Ham until 2026.

The 31-year-old, once described as a “defensive monster” by journalist Marcus Bring, is reportedly frustrated by his lack of game time under Nuno and is eager to revive his career elsewhere.

With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Rodríguez wants to boost his chances of forcing his way back into Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad — having already earned over 30 international caps.

The report adds that Club América — where Rodríguez previously played before moving to Europe — are leading the race for his signature.

The Mexican giants were in talks over a return last summer and are now expected to reopen negotiations, with coach André Jardine said to be pushing for an experienced holding midfielder.

Rodríguez is believed to be open to rejoining the club, even willing to take a pay cut to make the move happen.

If confirmed, it would mark the end of a short and underwhelming spell in East London for a player who never quite found his place under Nuno’s regime.
