Staggering: Dcl, Aston Villa comparison made as Leeds United face daunting November test

Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has one goal to his name so far this season, and later this month, the Whites face Manchester City and goalscoring machine Erling Haaland.

Goalscoring is the main issue for Leeds at the moment, as much as our defence is looking porous right now.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the lightning rod for scrutiny, unsurprisingly, but a lack of creativity is really hampering the summer signing’s chances of actually scoring the goals he’s asked to.

Fantasy Premier League comparison made on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ollie Watkins and Erling Haaland

The 28-year-old has one goal to his name so far, while contributing to a handful of goals through his hold-up play, aerial presence and sharp movement.

It’s of course not as much as this Leeds attack requires from him. This is in stark contrast to the current Premier League top scorer Erling Haaland.

A Fantasy Premier League comparison shows how many points Calvert-Lewin and fellow struggler Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa have accrued this season. They’re juxtaposed with Manchester City’s free-scoring forward, who is almost matching the pair on ‘bonus points’ alone:

Total points this season:

Watkins: 25

Calvert-Lewin: 24

Haaland’s bonus points: 23#FPL

— Tom Hadley FPL (@FPL_TomHadley) November 2, 2025

FPL points for forwards are collected as follows:

1pt for 1-59 minutes played

2pts for 60+ minutes played

4pts for a goal scored

3pts for an assist

2pts for 12 ‘defensive contributions’

1-3 bonus points for the top three players in a match

Haaland, through bonus points alone, is virtually matching the contributions of both Calvert-Lewin and Watkins’ totals.

Daunting Manchester City test looms in November as Leeds United brace for tough fixture run

Up next for Leeds is a trip to Nottingham Forest, who are hoping for a resurgence under Sean Dyche – their third manager of the season already.

Pressure is no doubt on Daniel Farke ahead of this Sunday’s trip to the City Ground, knowing that a poor result drags United towards the bottom three. Not only would it weaken Leeds’ standing, but also gives us a huge battle as our fixture list becomes incredibly difficult towards Christmas.

That includes facing Haaland and Man City on the 29th November away from home. Pep Guardiola’s side handed a couple of beatings to Leeds during our previous Premier League tenure, alongside our stunning 2-1 win under Marcelo Bielsa.

Haaland’s unstoppable form right now makes it a real worry for United. Should we be unable to organise the defence again, he could have a field day.
