Despite unloading two star players in what were unexpected, blockbuster trades, the New York Jets did not trade running back Breece Hall, edge rusher Jermaine Johnson, linebacker Quincy Williams or wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Of course, the Jets traded defensive lineman Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a first- and second-round pick and defensive lineman Mazi Smith, and cornerback Sauce Gardner was shipped to the Indianapolis Colts for a pair of first-round picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.
After seeing those two trades go down, many believed that Wilson, Hall, Johnson and/or Williams were next, but that never came to fruition.
Why, you ask? Well, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the offers simply weren't good enough for Hall, Williams and Johnson.
"Jets are NOT trading RB Breece Hall (who wanted out), LB Quincy Williams and DE Jermaine Johnson II, per sources. Offers weren’t good enough for them," he reported.
When it comes to Wilson, SNY's Connor Hughes reports that the wideout is simply "untouchable."
Hall had a few cryptic tweets after the Gardner and Williams trades, and a report even suggested he had requested a trade right before the deadline passed, which was likely spurred on by the two blockbuster trades. Maybe he should have done that sooner.
Now, the Jets will run the risk of losing Hall, Williams and Johnson for nothing in 2026, as all are set to be free agents.
