Micky van de Ven scored a superb goal in Tottenham’s win over Copenhagen

Tottenham thumped Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday night, maintaining their unbeaten start to the League Phase.
Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Joao Palhinha were on target for a ten-man Spurs side, though Micky van de Ven will take all the headlines after scoring a wondergoal to take his tally to six across all competitions this season.
The win boosts the north London outfit’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages as they bounced back from the weekend’s home loss against Chelsea and warmed up for the visit of Manchester United in style.
With a trip to the reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain next up for Spurs after the international break, victory over Copenhagen was imperative for Thomas Frank’s side.
However, they were dealt a huge blow when the line-up was announced as Mohammed Kudus was left out of the matchday squad having failed to recover from the knock that saw him miss training on Monday.
Johnson, one of five recalled to the starting XI, saw his night end early as he was sent off for violent conduct shortly after Tottenham had doubled their lead.

That and Richarlison’s late penalty miss were the two negatives for Spurs, but in truth, the sending off seemed to spur them on to delivering their best attacking performance under Frank to date.
