Liverpool player ratings vs Real Madrid as Conor Bradley embarrasses Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool looked back to their best after a 1-0 win against Real Madrid.

The Reds have been having a tough time as of late but they built upon their win over Aston Villa with a brilliant performance in the Champions League.

Alexis Mac Allister’s goal was enough to seal the victory, with Liverpool fans likely buzzing that they could get one over on Trent Alexander-Arnold upon his homecoming.

Here is how the players rated at Anfield.

Defence

Giorgi Mamardashvili: 7 – Didn’t have loads to do in the first-half but made a good save against Jude Bellingham when called upon. Also not a lot to do in the second half but deserved his clean sheet again.

Conor Bradley: 9 – Was up against one of the best wingers in the world in Vinicius Jr and did a really good job. Managed him well for most of the game and still managed to get forward to good effect, was definitely one of Liverpool’s best players.

Ibrahima Konate: 7 – Was solid throughout and helped keep Kylian Mbappe fairly quiet. Probably thought he was going to be busier than he actually was.

Virgil van Dijk: 7 – Was also fairly comfortable and looked good on the ball. Much better performance from the two centre-backs as they look like they are getting their understanding between each other back again.

Andy Robertson: 7 – Just a far more balanced option than Milos Kerkez. Looked comfortable in defence and also helped the attack where he could. Another solid performance that shows why he should start more often.

Midfield

Ryan Gravenberch: 6 – A lot more quiet than usual but did nothing wrong by any means. Did the dirty work and ran his socks off, so overall just a solid performance.

Alexis Mac Allister: 8 – Was not afraid to get stuck in and threatened in the final third. Took his goal really well too despite being one of the smallest on the pitch. Certainly looks like he is getting back to his best.

Dominik Szoboszlai: 8 – Simply quality yet again. Excellent on the ball, pushed the team forward with his driving runs and provided a brilliant assist for Mac Allister’s goal. He really is one of, if not the best, Liverpool player right now.

Attack

Mohamed Salah: 6 – Certainly looks like he’s getting closer to his best but still not there yet. He looked dangerous when on the ball and had a few good touches, but didn’t manage to threaten the goal much.

Hugo Ekitike: 6 – One of his quieter games but still showed some nice touches and link-up play. Worked hard too, so Reds fans cannot complain one bit with his performance.

Florian Wirtz: 7 – Just like he did against Frankfurt, he looks so much better off the left. Was unlucky not to get an assist for Szoboszlai in the first half and worked really hard. Definitely did his chances of starting more no harm at all.

Substitutes

Curtis Jones: 5 – Worked hard when he came on and did the job he was asked to

Cody Gakpo: 6 – Had a decent chance to score and did well in the short time he had on the pitch.

Milos Kerkez: N/A

Federico Chiesa: N/A
