Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett to start over injured Kyler Murray against Seahawks

Jacoby Brissett will start on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters at his Monday press conference.

Brissett will start in place of Kyler Murray, who has been sidelined by a foot injury for the past three games.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Murray and the Cardinals talked with multiple doctors and were told the timetable for Murray’s recovery is between 4-8 weeks. The doctors said there is an increased chance of reaggravation until Murray’s injury is properly healed.

In Murray’s absence, Brissett has completed 66% of this throws for 860 yards and six touchdowns to one interception. He added 49 yards on 14 carries.

Brissett’s passer rating (102.5) is 10th in the NFL at this point, while Murray’s (88.6) ranks 22nd.

Brissett has gone 1-2 at quarterback, but the Cardinals have converted over 50% of their third downs. In the five games with Murray starting, the Cardinals went 2-3 and never reached more than 46% (Week 1).

Gannon’s announcement comes after Brissett led the Cardinals to a 27-17 Monday Night Football win over the Dallas Cowboys.

This is a developing story.
