Mikel Arteta – ‘We want more’

We equalled a club record that has stood for more than 100 years by keeping our eighth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions on Tuesday.

It was also our 10th win in a row, and we have won 14 out of 16 games so far this season, conceding only three goals in the process.

Mikel Arteta is rightly proud of the run, but says there is plenty of room for improvement.

“We want more,” he said after the game. “We can still improve and do things better. That’s the right mindset to have, and we’re happy with what we’re doing. But I’m not satisfied at all, we can play better, defend better, and today we should have done some things better in the opposition half.

“It’s very tricky against them. But I’m very pleased for a lot of reasons - obviously a winning run in the Champions League without conceding a goal, at a really tough place to come.

“And we talked about being emotionally in control, and to not get frustrated when we had to play that game because we’d have the chances, the way they set up, and we certainly can look back on another very impressive performance.”

Report: Slavia Prague 0-3 Arsenal](https://www.arsenal.com/news/report-slavia-prague-0-3-arsenal?utm_source=arsenaldotcom&utm_medium=embedded-article&utm_campaign=news)

The boss handed Champions League debuts to Hale End duo Max Dowman and Andre Harriman-Annous in the second half, the former becoming the youngest player in the competition’s history.

“Yeah I didn’t know that, I just found out,” Mikel revealed. “But it’s no surprise. What I really liked is the way he played. He came on, started to take the ball, spread the opponent and won free-kicks. And that’s it - it doesn’t matter about the age, it’s the personality you have and the courage you have to play at this level, and I’m delighted to have him.

“Obviously, we’re super happy to see him make his debut, Andre as well, and the players that we changed to play and keep the performance.”

Mikel finished by thanking the supporters who made the trip over to the Czech capital for the night, many of whom were in Burnley on Saturday and will be heading to Sunderland this weekend.

“They’re unbelievable,” he said “We really appreciate the effort, the energy they’re putting in, and I’m really happy that we could get the win to make them really happy on the way back - it’s a long way back now. So, I’m delighted for them and really grateful.”
