The trade deadline in the NFL has come and gone, and the Philadelphia Eagles made a lot of deals, but thankfully, none of them involved star wide receiver A.J. Brown.
After the deadline had passed, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman spoke with the media for the first time since the season began. Roseman addressed the trade rumors of Brown and whether the team ever considered moving him. It was an easy response for the general manager as he stuck by his wide receiver.
"When you're trying to be a great team, it's hard to trade great players. A.J. Brown is a great player. He wears the [captain's patch] for a reason. He's an important part of this team, of this organization. He cares about winning. He cares about his teammates. I think that when you're a team like ours that's looking forward to the opportunity to compete for a championship, you just don't get rid of the guys like that. Feel very lucky to have him on our team and excited about the second half of the season with him."
Brown won't be leaving the Eagles anytime soon
It has not been an easy year for the Eagles or Brown, with a lot of drama surrounding the team. Brown has sent cryptic tweets, and the media has consistently criticized the Eagles, both on and off the field.
In seven games, Brown has caught 29 passes for 395 yards and three touchdowns. He missed the Eagles' last game against the New York Giants due to a hamstring injury he had after the Week 7 Minnesota Vikings game.
Once Brown is 100%, he'll return as the number one guy in the passing game alongside DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. The group has picked up steam over the last three games as quarterback Jalen Hurts has thrown for over 280 yards in two of the previous three matchups.
