Ty Simpson models his game after these 4 NFL QBs

Ty Simpson has listed Florida legend Tim Tebow as a role model before, but there are some different quarterbacks after whom the Alabama signal caller models his game.

He mentioned Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, Baker Mayfield and Matthew Stafford.

“I really like Joe Burrow,” Simpson said first. “One, a coaches son. Didn’t play a whole lot early like I did. Just kind of the way he moves and plays, really like how he does it.”

Burrow spent five seasons in college football — three with Ohio State and two with LSU. Then the Cincinnati Bengals selected him first overall in 2020, where he’s been ever since.

Second, Simpson listed Goff.

“I think Jared Goff is one who I really like,” Simpson said. “Under center. A lot of the stuff the Lions do, we do.”

The former Cal quarterback was the first overall selection in the 2016 draft. Then he spent five seasons with the Rams before joining the Lions, where Goff has been since.

“And then Baker Mayfield,” Simpson said. “A little guy who will do anything to win. Tough. And maybe not be the biggest guy, but he’s going to get it done in any type of way. Very resilient. Those are my three, and you can throw Matt Stafford in as well. I really like the way those guys play because I see a lot of myself in them.”

Simpson could be on his way to joining those four quarterbacks a first-round pick in the next NFL Draft if he continues on this path. This season, Simpson has thrown for 20 touchdowns and one interception.

Up next, No. 4 Alabama (7-1, 5-0 SEC) will face LSU (5-3, 2-3) on Saturday (6:30 p.m. CT, ABC) at Bryant-Denny Stadium. It’s the first of a four-game stretch to close out the regular season.
