San Antonio's early success has revitalized old feelings Spurs fans thrive off

There used to be a time when the Spurs were one of the most resented franchises in the league. That disdain didn't come from executives, either. Most personnel around the league respected what they were doing in San Antonio. Fans are something different, though. They don't have to be logical or "respect greatness." All they're expected to do is cheer for their teams relentlessly.

When your squad isn't the one winning 50 games every season and collecting championships like Infinity Stones, jealousy can rear its ugly head. It happened often during the Big 3 era, but it's been quiet on the home front for a while as the Silver and Black regained their footing. The Spurs look to be back now, and we're starting to see green Martian men pop up on the timeline, envious of where the team is headed.

It's a glorious feeling that Spurs fans are relishing.

“Hospital”

Love how these clowns disregard the fact that half the spurs rotation including their starting Star PG, best perimeter defender and back up C has been out as well.

The Spurs are slowly but surely retaking their spot atop the NBA

The pace that San Antonio is on is a true callback to their glory days. They were always the team that nobody expected to be a force, regardless of their consistent dominance. The regression was supposedly always coming, but instead, they maintained and found ways to get better. These Spurs are also ahead of schedule, but the past is why I'm not concerned about regression during the year.

Past success isn't a direct indicator of future achievement; however, sports work a little differently than most businesses. You can replicate success when you have strong leadership in place, and there have been no hints to suggest that the Spurs have taken a step back in that department.

They've actually shown us that they're as on top of their game as ever. It took foresight, understanding, and dedication to trade DeMar DeRozan, Derrick White, and DeJounte Murray to position themselves to land Victor Wembanyama. They began gathering the pieces that could contribute to a strong core in Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson.

It took KJ a while to get there, but he's playing unbelievably now. Had they traded him to a team that got this version of him, fans would have been incensed. There may have been calls to ship him elsewhere, but fans are emotional. Johnson hadn't been giving the team what everyone hoped to see out of him, so the tide turned. But he's been as upstanding a player as you can ask for, and Spurs Nation genuinely likes him.

Vassell had a small hiccup last year, but he's been playing great, and San Antonio is a better team for keeping him. The front office added Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle in the last two drafts, and if the Hawks have a terrible year, the Silver and Black could land another can't-miss prospect next summer. The future is brighter than ever, and opposing fans hate it, which means everything is as it should be once again.
