[Liverpool](https://walkon.com/) made it a streak, dispatching Real Madrid convincingly for a second year running, as they took down the Royal Whites, who are leading La Liga right now, 1-0 in a match that was not at all as close as the scoreline would suggest.
There were a number of standout players on the pitch for Liverpool in this clean sheet victor of the world’s biggest club, but undoubtedly one of the standout players was young attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz.
His former manager, Xabi Alonso now coaching Real Madrid, decided to sign Franco Mastantuono instead of him this past summer, and Wirtz made him pay by creating five chances and frustrating the Real midfield throughout the win.
The German international continues to prove those who doubted his fit with the team wrong, as he was the best statistical creator on the pitch and passed the eye test with flying colors.
It’s baffling that anyone doubted him or thought that the transfer was a mistake, but all those pundits, mostly of the Manchester United ilk, were served a fresh heaping of crow again.
