After a slow start to the season, Karl-Anthony Towns seems to be back in his All-NBA form, and his head coach is starting to take notice.
Last season, Towns had a stellar first year in New York, averaging 24.4 points and 12.8 rebounds per game on his way to being named an All-Star and All-NBA. However, this season has been a bit of a struggle for Towns, averaging just 20.4 points through the team’s first seven games. Despite that, Towns has started to regain his true form of late.
Towns has scored 20 or more points in each of the Knicks’ last three games, in which the team is 2-1 in that span. Towns’ latest performance against the Washington Wizards was perhaps his best of the season so far, ushering in 33 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists while knocking down three three-pointers as the Knicks went on the win 119-102.
After the game, head coach Mike Brown took a moment to praise the effort his big man has shown recently.
“He’s a monster,” Brown said. “He’s starting to find and feel his rhythm in what we’re trying to do. There’s still a lot of room there to grow, not just for him, but for us to learn him.”
Towns will look to continue his hot stretch of games on Wednesday when the Knicks play host to his former team, the Minnesota Timberwolves.
