Why Andre Drummond isn't playing tonight for 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have a fascinating center rotation.

When Joel Embiid is healthy, he obviously leads the way. But at this point, Embiid sometimes has minutes restrictions and also sits back-to-backs.

That leaves games where Embiid isn't available at all, and Adem Bona and Andre Drummond have a lot of work to do.

On Tuesday, Embiid was available to play the Chicago Bulls.

That meant the rotation behind him got shorter, at Drummond's expense.

Why isn't Andre Drummond playing tonight?

There was no clear reason that Drummond wasn't playing.

But through three quarters against Chicago, he hadn't taken the floor.

Embiid and Bona both surpassed 20 minutes on the court without Drummond having gotten in at all.

The 76ers' rotation was also different on Tuesday because second-year guard Jared McCain was back in action for the first time. That mixed things up at the guard spots.

And although that wouldn't directly impact the center position, it did force Philly to reconsider who it uses when, and maybe it resulted in less action for Drummond.
