Leeds United have no plans to recall Joe Gelhardt from his loan at Hull City amid his hot scoring streak, despite a recall clause in his deal.

The chances of such a recall was always seen as low and club sources have confirmed that the Whites indeed expect him to complete his season-long stay at the Tigers, for whom he has scored four goals in as many matches.

Leeds highly rate his character and are delighted to see that their striker is in good form. However, his absence from Daniel Farke’s pre-season squad made it clear that he was not part of the German’s plans for the new season.

Leeds Live understands that Gelhardt is very happy at Hull, where he has become a key player under Sergej Jakirovic. Goals against Birmingham City, Leicester City, Charlton Athletic and Norwich City in successive games has seen his stock rise.

Gelhardt, who initially joined Hull on loan for the second half of last season after playing just nine Championship minutes for Leeds during the first half, still has more than 18 months left on his Leeds contract and so can be sold next summer.

United initially wanted to sell the 23-year-old this summer but ultimately agreed that the best course of action was to send him back on loan to Hull. A good season will see his value inflate and he is arguably already on his way.

As is typical with season-long loans, Gelhardt’s deal does contain a recall clause, with Hull’s transfer restrictions at the time of the move not causing a diversion from the status quo. But where possible, Leeds do not like to intervene with a player’s loan elsewhere.

Leeds United have slashed up to 50% off select kits and merch on their official club store, including this season's home shirt.

The forward scored five goals for Hull during his 20-game spell last season and the player subsequently pushed for a return amid his status at Leeds, despite a change in Tigers manager with Ruben Selles leaving before moving to Sheffield United.

Gelhardt's goal against Norwich City on Saturday saw him surpass last season’s Hull tally in seven fewer games. In his 57 senior outings for Leeds, Gelhardt has registered three goals and seven assists.
