Report: Chelsea coaches love what Alejandro Garnacho is doing, he’s taken a leaf out of Frank Lampard’s book

Alejandro Garnacho will be hoping that he can have a similar Chelsea legacy to Frank Lampard’s.

Lampard had an extremely successful 13-year spell in west London, where the former midfielder won three Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy.

It would be a dream for Garnacho if the Blues were able to get their hands on the title this season. However, Gary Neville thinks Chelsea will only finish in the top four.

Champions League qualification is likely to be the aim for Enzo Maresca’s side, and Garnacho is working hard to help his team reach that objective.

In the past, Garnacho’s behaviour and attitude have been questioned. Before his move to Stamford Bridge, it was even reported that Chelsea did background checks on Garnacho to see what his character was like.

The winger clearly passed those checks following his £40m switch to the Blues, and he is now impressing staff at Cobham.

According to GiveMeSport, Garnacho has been staying behind after training sessions to improve his finishing, which Chelsea coaches really appreciate.

The 21-year-old recently grabbed his first goal for the Club World Cup winners, scoring in their 2-1 defeat to Sunderland last month.

Chelsea fans will now be hoping that Garnacho’s finishing can become as good as Lampard’s.

Frank Lampard used to practise after training

Lampard got so good at scoring goals because of how much he used to practise after Chelsea’s training sessions.

“At Chelsea I practise after training because I was given that advice when I was very young: train and work on your skills after everyone else has gone home, work on your weaknesses where you can,” the Coventry City manager told BBC Sport in 2008.

Garnacho, then, has taken a leaf out of the Chelsea legend’s book, and hopefully it starts to pay dividends.

Chelsea need their attackers firing in the absence of Cole Palmer, who may not be out for too much longer, thankfully.

Maresca gave an update on Palmer on Tuesday ahead of the Blues’ Champions League game against Qarabag. The Chelsea manager is optimistic about having him back for the Barcelona match later this month.
