Newcastle United have seen too many different sides of Anthony Gordon this season.
There is the Anthony Gordon that is flying in the Champions League, boasting four goals and one assist. Gordon was tipped to shine in the Champions League, and he has done exactly that.
However, there is also the Anthony Gordon that has struggled to replicate that form in the Premier League, plus the one that had to fill in up front during Alexander Isak’s exile.
There has even been a suspended Anthony Gordon, with the 24-year-old getting himself sent off in Newcastle’s defeat to Liverpool.
The lack of consistency is proving to be frustrating, but there is no cause for concern internally at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United think Anthony Gordon is in a ‘good place’ right now
There has been concern amongst the fanbase since Newcastle’s loss to West Ham. Gordon was taken off at half-time, having put in an incredibly uninspiring performance against the Hammers.
It meant another Premier League game passed him by without a goal contribution, but a new report from the Daily Mail states that people within Newcastle United are not concerned about the winger’s domestic form.
According to the Daily Mail, the ‘feeling’ within the club is that Gordon is in a ‘good place’ at the moment.

They add that there are no concerns over how he is applying himself on the training ground, although he is suffering from a slight hip issue that is causing him discomfort. Howe cited that as the reason for taking him off against West Ham.
Anthony Gordon is yet to live up to pre-season hype
In the Champions League, Gordon has been excellent. And while his Premier League form has been hit and miss, it is still very early into the 2025/26 season.
However, there is an element of pressure on Gordon to perform given what was said about him earlier this year.
It was reported that Newcastle think Gordon will have his best season ever, having showcased an even greater level of effort and application in pre-season.
That has not proven to be the case so far, at a time when the Magpies need a new attacking talisman following Isak’s departure.
