Micah Richards makes Everton dig at Jamie Carragher after Liverpool's Champions League win

Everton fans are going to love Micah Richards’ quick-thinking come back on live television towards former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.

David Moyes’ side were in action on Monday evening, where Carragher was analysing the game for Sky Sports.

Carragher slammed James Tarkowski for his performance against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the 1-1 draw.

However, he was in Champions League mode on Tuesday evening, with Liverpool in action against Real Madrid.

Everton were not even in action, yet they were being brought up in conversation as the pundit was put in his place by his co-presenter, Richards.

And what was said certainly silenced the former Liverpool defender.

On Monday, Carragher also shared his strong Everton connection live on air, with one of his Everton friends messaging him throughout the game.

Richards was very keen to remind Carragher of his Everton history during a live interview from Anfield on Tuesday evening.

During CBS Sports’ coverage of the game, Richards hit back at Carragher as he interviewed Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai.

“That doesn’t happen [disappointed when your team loses] with Micah, because he doesn’t support one team. He supports Manchester City and Arsenal,” said Carragher.

“Hold on. Hold on. Coming from someone who grew up an Everton fan? You’ve got some cheek!”

Carragher has shared his support for Everton in the past, with the defender growing up as a Blue before becoming a regular at Anfield.

So, although this is not breaking news, Richards was certainly able to silence the former Liverpool defender in front of a current one and whilst on live television.

Everton fans will agree with one thing Carragher has said

Carragher may prove a divisive figure, but he did speak some sense on Monday evening as he urged Moyes to sort his striker situation out in January.

“I’m not saying Everton will go down – I don’t believe that at all, but they don’t want to be looking over their shoulder,” said Carragher.

“What I’m trying to say is Everton need to find a striker. What they have right now is not good enough.”

Everton have European qualification hopes this season, but one goal between two strikers is not going to get any team even close.

The January window is going to be huge for the Toffees and Everton News understands that Everton are prioritising a striker in the market.

What calibre of forward they can land in January will remain to be seen.
