Everton official travels for 17-goal star – Toffess on hunt for 21-year-old forward

FC Midtjylland’s Franculino Djú was linked to Everton and a few other clubs last summer.

In August, the Toffees sent a scout to watch him live in the Europa League qualifiers against Hibernian FC. Later that month, Marca stated the Danish club had asked for €20m for their star.

Everton weren’t able to secure the striker’s services. His club won’t regret keeping Franculino Djú, as he’s scored 17 goals and added three assists from 24 matches this season.

Bold.dk report David Moyes’ side continue to keep an eye on the 21-year-old. They point out claims of Everton and Bayern Munich’s summer interest and provide the latest.

The Merseyside club, the Bundesliga winners and Inter Milan are among the clubs to have sent scouts to Denmark. It’s claimed officials of these clubs followed the Guinea-Bissau international live in his side’s 1-1 draw against Aarhus GF on Monday.

Franculino Djú impressed for his side, scoring the equaliser in the 81st minute. Real Betis, VfB Stuttgart and Trabzonspor scouts were also in attendance earlier this week.

Midtjylland sporting director Kristian Bach Bak is confident clubs will be interested in the player in January. He spoke to TV2, relayed by Tipsbladet, hinting that his side won’t be able to retain him for long.

Faced with the possibility of losing Franculino, the director revealed Midtjylland have already started looking for another attacker.

“We are also looking through the entire market to find that proven goalscorer, and if we had seen Franculino somewhere with everything he can do, he would probably have been our first choice too,” he said.

“If he continues as he is doing now, there will of course be interest in Franculino already this winter. We know that very well.”
