**West Ham United have been linked with a move for Inter Milan central defender Yann Bisseck, with Tottenham also interested in his signature, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.**
Transfer rumours that don’t go away come around very often for West Ham United; Adama Traore, Carlos Bacca and Harry Maguire come to mind. Inter Milan’s Yann Bisseck is slowly becoming another one of those.
The German central defender has now been linked with a move to the Hammers for four transfer windows in a row. When he was first link, the move looked impossible, Inter had just come off the back off a stellar campaign reaching the Champions League final, and Bisseck was fantastic.
Last January there was no chance of signing him from Inter because we were so poor. This January we are arguably even worse, but a move would be slightly more likely. He’s only played 30% of the minutes available in Serie A so far this campaign, new signing Manuel Akanji from Manchester City has jumped ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Hammers reportedly offered just over £20m for Bisseck in the summer and remain interested this month. West Ham’s central defenders have been poor this season, Todibo and Kilman especially, but Mavropanos can also be easily improved on.
However, the Gazzetta dello Sport report also suggests that Tottenham Hotspur are in for the one-time Germany international. The fact they have Van de Ven, Romero, Danso and Dragusin makes that kind of suprising, but if they are really in for him, there is no doubt he’d rather move to North London for Champions League football, rather than East for a relegation scrap.
However, if we can get a deal done, Yann Bisseck would be an excellent option for West Ham and Nuno. He has the type of athleticism we have been missing from the heart of our defence for a long time, his 6 foot 5 frame will also massively benefit us aerially and he is an excellent passer. Not only that, he is just 24 years old which would make him our youngest senior centre-back.
