Manchester United are weighing up a move for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite once again, according to reports.
Rumour mongers Caught Offside claim the Red Devils are continuing to watch the 23-year-old’s performances 15 months after they had two bids rejected for the player.
However, Branthwaite’s asking price is said to be £70m, and fans on X don’t believe the centre-back is worth the outlay:

Can we just pack up this Branthwaite nonsense please.
I think the only reason why he keeps getting linked to us is because he is English but let’s be honest he is overhyped

Branthwaite could be targeted to replace Shaw
Luke Shaw has had a pretty decent start to the campaign but the 30-year-old isn’t getting any younger and his injury record is not great.
Branthwaite is left-footed, so he would be a good fit for the left side of the back three, although there are big reservations about the fee.
With Lisandro Martinez returning to fitness, there isn’t any great urgency to strengthen that side of the pitch.
Man United will have competition for the defender
Caught Offside mention Tottenham as a potential rival in the battle for Branthwaite’s signature, but Liverpool and Chelsea were also mentioned as potential suitors last summer.
Both clubs reportedly had enquiries knocked back by Everton, which demonstrates that the centre-half has plenty of admirers across the Premier League.
While United may still be keeping an eye on Branthwaite, you can’t see them making a move anytime soon, with the main priority for January thought to be a new midfielder.
