The father and agent of Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister says there has been “no contact” with Real Madrid amid speculation about his son’s future.
Speaking to Madrid-based publication AS (quotes via Liverpool.com), Carlos Mac Allister reaffirmed the Argentinian international’s commitment to the Reds:
“I read the rumours, but that’s all they were. There was no contact. In any case, it’s always nice when my son is linked with the biggest clubs in the world. Real Madrid is a very big club, but so is Liverpool, and we must be responsible and respect the institution he belongs to and that believed in him.”

“I have to be prudent. He plays for Liverpool now. In the future, if the opportunity arises and it’s appropriate, he’ll have to make his own decisions. That’s what I’ve raised them to be. I have the freedom to give them my opinion, and they have the obligation to do what they think is best.”
The Spanish media’s unsettling of Liverpool players is nothing new
The fact that Mac Allister’s father was asked this question in the build-up to the Champions League fixture between Arne Slot’s side and Real is not a coincidence.
There have been several reports in recent days linking Liverpool first-team stars with transfers to the Bernabeu – the most bizarre being claims about captain Virgil van Dijk prioritising a move to the Spanish capital before signing his contract extension.
Mac Allister has had a difficult few months
The 26-year-old has struggled to replicate the form he showed when Liverpool won the Premier League title last campaign.
An injury has been cited as one of the main reasons for Mac Allister’s problems, but he has been available since the start of the season, and he has not looked close to his best.
He did put in an improved performance against Aston Villa last weekend, but we have only seen flashes of what he is really capable of.
