‘Arrogant or clever?’ That’s the question being asked about Pep Guardiola and Manchester City in Germany today.
[BILD cover them](https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/arrogant-oder-clever-ungewoehnliche-pep-massnahme-vor-bvb-kracher-690a44500580923d099874f7) and Guardiola’s decision to hand his team a rest before their clash with Borussia Dortmund today.
The newspaper covers the ‘highly unusual’ move by Guardiola. He cancelled the final training session for his side at the Etihad on Tuesday. He is instead planning on having them back on Wednesday before the game.
Manchester City boss raises eyebrows
------------------------------------
That’s a method which would be ‘unthinkable’ for Dortmund and coach Nico Kovac. He has a very different approach to matters. The Croatian makes his side do light warm ups on match days. Football tennis is particularly popular at the hotel.
He wasn’t handing out any extra time off despite Dortmund having two extra days to recover compared to Manchester City. Whether that helps his side remains to be seen.
Guardiola has already explained the decision. He wanted his team to rest after a challenging period in the Premier League. Players were ordered to stay at home rather than training. He insisted it’s something he’s done before and nothing new.
The decision has certainly raised eyebrows in Germany, though. They’re clearly sceptical about the choice from the Manchester City boss.
