14 players already ruled-out of Newcastle United v Athletic Club clash - plus two doubts

Joe Buck reacts as Eddie Howe previews Newcastle United v Athletic Club

Newcastle United injury news: The latest injury news from Newcastle United and Athletic Club ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash.

Newcastle United play their fourth Champions League match of the league phase tonight when they host Athletic Club at St James’ Park. The Magpies have won two of their three games so far ahead of back-to-back away games in France and Germany that will follow tonight’s game.

Eddie Howe does have a number of injury concerns to deal with ahead of tonight’s game and revealed fresh doubts over Bruno Guimaraes who has been suffering with illness this week. However, much of Howe’s concerns pale in comparison to the injury issues affecting their opponents tonight.

His opposition number, Ernesto Valverde, will be without eight first-team players for their trip to Tyneside. Those absences include Spanish international Nico Williams who has been ruled-out of tonight’s game with a groin injury.

Here, we take a look at the latest injury news from both camps ahead of tonight’s Champions League meeting between Newcastle United and Athletic Club at St James’ Park.
