Michelle Agyemang has secured a major individual honour.
And the Italian organisers have acknowledged she broke their hearts last summer.
The Arsenal and England striker who has been on loan at [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/?ref=au) in the last two seasons has won the prestigious Golden Girl prize organised by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport.
The 19-year-old was chosen by a panel of 50 sports journalists from across Europe.
It could offer her a timely morale boost after she was ruled out for the rest of the season by a knee injury sustained on international duty last week.
Agyemang made good progress with the Seagulls last season.
But she is best known for her efforts with the Lionesses following a stunning goal on her debut late in the campaign.
She then helped England win a second successive Euros and was named young player of the tournament.
She was nominated for the Women’s Kopa Trophy - the award for the best performing player under the age of 21 - and the Ballon d’Or.
Announcing the award, Tuttosport wrote: “Italy also paid the price for her talent, seeing the final fade away in the 96th minute due to the equaliser scored by Agyemang, who had also been decisive a few days earlier in the quarter-final match against Sweden.”
