Cremonese signed Jeremy Sarmiento on loan from Brighton in the summer.
The Italian side have the option to buy the talent permanently. That option will become an obligation, if they avoid relegation.
So far this season, Sarmiento has played six games in Serie A. Over the past few weeks, his game time has increased and there’s been signs of promise.
The 23-year-old has now spoken to CR1’s ‘Il Grigio e il Rosso’ show. The Brighton loanee hinted at a desire to stay at Cremonese beyond this season.
He said, via [CremonaSport](https://cremonasport.it/2025/11/04/a-tu-per-tu-con-sarmiento-voglio-mostrare-le-mie-qualit):_“If you look at the places I’ve been, I’ve already traveled a lot. This is my current challenge. I have to face it, and I hope to become a better player here and show people what I’m capable of. This can become my home.”_
Sarmiento made it clear he’s settling into life well in Cremona.
_“Faye, Bondo, because we’re dressing room neighbours, and Sanabria, who’s Paraguayan and we have a South American bond. Even the other players, who are easy to talk to, welcomed me when I arrived. Even Vardy, who comes from the Premier League like me.”_
The South American believes he is adapting well from a tactical perspective.
_“It’s very different for me, because last season and the season before that I played as a winger, so it’s different playing as a central midfielder or a second striker._
_“But as I said before, I’m working day after day to improve in this position too, gaining confidence with the staff and my teammates.”_
Sarmiento also spoke about his time under Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton.
_“I know De Zerbi well. I worked with him for a season at Brighton. He’s a great man on and off the pitch, very similar to Coach Nicola, especially in character. I like their passion for success and their desire to win._
_“They work day after day to bring out the best in their players. It’s a great opportunity for me to have coaches like that and work under their guidance.”_
The midfielder comes across as someone who has no regrets about leaving the Seagulls.
The Ecuador international is slowly fitting into the side tactically. With time, his game time should increase.
So far this season, Cremonese have been one of the surprise packages of the Serie A campaign. They find themselves at tenth in the table and are playing with a certain amount of grit which is associated with Davide Nicola’s sides.
If things go well, it will help them sign Sarmiento permanently. Everything indicates that the player would like that.
