The Holy Grail of a £4.6m striker could prove key to success on Fantasy Premier League

One of the trickiest parts of building a team in Fantasy Premier League is trying to fit as many in-form players as possible into your team without running out of money. Erling Haaland feels like a must-have after recording a staggering 13 goals in 10 matches while history suggests that Mohamed Salah will return to form after recording just six goal contributions so far this term.

It’s also hard to ignore Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo after their strong starts to the campaign while Jean Philippe-Mateta and Bruno Fernandes have also historically proven that they are capable of sweeping up plenty of points.

Fitting in as many assets seems to be the optimum tactic to success in Fantasy Football - but the only way you can truly allow that to happen is by finding a few under-the-radar hidden gems that can earn your team points without breaking the bank. With that in mind, we take a look at some of the names you should watch out for:

The £4.6m bargain Bournemouth star that every FPL player should be looking to sign

Eli Junior Kroupi could be this season’s breakout star. Priced at just £4.6m on FPL, Eli Junior Kroupi is looking like one of the signings of the season for Bournemouth.

The red hot teenager, who has been compared to Kylian Mbappe and Sergio Aguero, technically agreed to join Bournemouth in February 2025 for £10m plus add-ons, but part of the deal stipulated that he would return to Lorient for six more months to help them in their promotion pursuit.

All of the telling signs were there that Kroupi could be a star. He’d scored 22 for Lorient in Ligue 2 to help them win promotion last season and he’d attracted interest from other clubs as well, such as West Ham (who moved for Evan Ferguson instead), Tottenham, RB Leipzig and Real Madrid.

All of this makes his small price tag on FPL quite staggering. Having said that, Kroupi did have to be patient to get into the team - he only made his first start for the Cherries in mid-October. But now looks extremely unlikely to drop out any time soon after scoring four times in three starts.

"He is good without the ball, good on the press and works hard - but when Bournemouth attack, he gets himself in good areas. Bournemouth have got a lot of players who, even with the ones they have sold, are becoming real stars in the Premier League. Their recruitment is just phenomenal."

Brighton duo also feature in this week’s bargains to watch out for

Brighton, like Bournemouth, have a habit of unearthing talents that go on to be worth lots of money. And another one to consider when it comes to FPL is the relatively budget-friendly Yankuba Minteh.

The former Newcastle United winger - who never got onto the pitch for the Magpies after being sold for PSR reasons - showcased potential in his first year at Brighton after contributing six goals and four assists but looks to have all the qualities to have an even bigger year this time around.

He’s priced at £6m - has one goal and three assists from 10 matches so far, including two in the most recent victory over Leeds United - but his underlying numbers suggest he has the capabilities of getting into double figures for assists by the end of the campaign.

As shown by Fbref, Minteh has the third most goal creating chances (six) of any player in the league this season behind FPL royalty Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus. This isn’t a one off either, he also completed six take-ons leading to a goal last season - the highest in the division which suggests if he can continue to improve his end-product he’ll be a real nightmare for defenders to deal with.

Minteh isn’t the only budget Brighton player making an impression either. And if you’re even more strapped for cash on the game, another player to consider would be Mats Wieffer.

Priced at just £4.9m, only marginally higher than Josh King, who we’ve already raved about here at 3 Added Minutes as a real shrewd addition - Wieffer has an overall points tally of 33 - putting him level with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Morgan Rogers and Jeremy Doku for a fraction of the price.
