Everton are on a dire run of form, but there should be absolutely no thought about sacking David Moyes for one key reason.
David Moyes’ side have won one in eight and supporters are starting to grow frustrated with the Everton manager’s stubbornness.
Moyes refused to bring Tyler Dibling and Merlin Rohl off the bench against Sunderland on Monday, preferring Dwight McNeil, strangely.
That led many Everton fans to turn on Moyes, and there has been a lot of discourse around sacking him for a more progressive head coach.
Some Toffees supporters want Edin Terzic, but here’s why the Friedkin Group must hold their nerve and give the Scotsman more time.

David Moyes’ West Ham record shows what’s possible with Everton
Moyes’ second spell at West Ham United saw him hired mid-season to try and steer the club away from the relegation zone and to safety.
He achieved that as the Hammers finished in 16th place on 39 points in the 2019/20 season, which looked unlikely after Manuel Pellegrini’s dreadful start.
Moyes’ first full season back at West Ham saw his side rocket up the table and become a European-level club.

His side finished the 2020/21 season in sixth place, thus qualifying for the Europa League, and they actually weren’t too far off the top four.
West Ham finished two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, so it was a truly remarkable season, and it proves that with time, Moyes can be successful.

2 Man Utd 38 74
3 Liverpool 38 69
4 Chelsea 38 67
5 Leicester 38 66
6 West Ham 38 65
Of course, it will be hard to mirror that this season with Everton, but there is no reason why he can’t turn it around and push on towards the top half of the table.
A striker could save Everton’s season
Moyes clearly has made mistakes this season, and he must take the handbrake off and give the likes of Dibling and Rohl a proper run in the side.
But, in fairness, the Scotsman really hasn’t been helped by the lack of form from both of his strikers, Thierno Barry and Beto.
Signing the heavily linked Joshua Zirkzee could be transformative, as it may genuinely be the difference between Europe and the bottom half.
So it feels like a lot rests on that January transfer window to ensure a more prolific and polished striker is brought in.
If Moyes’ side still aren’t delivering after that, then maybe it would be time to consider his future. For now, though, he has more than enough credit in the bank.
