'Can't be left out' - Henry Winter says 'outstanding' Liverpool star is now undroppable after…

Henry Winter has praised Andy Robertson following Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League, saying the Scotland international ‘can’t be left out’ of Arne Slot’s first XI following his strong display at Anfield.

The Reds dominated Real with an outstanding display on Tuesday night, with Alexis Mac Allister’s second-half finish proving decisive for the hosts, who claimed their third win of their European campaign.

While Dominik Szoboszlai was lauded for a standout performance in midfield, Robertson was also very impressive as he kept Arda Guler quiet on the left and demonstrated calmness and confidence in his fourth start in five games for Liverpool.

Winter was full of praise for Robertson following the win on Tuesday, saying the defender must remain a first-choice option for Slot at left-back over Milos Kerkez.

Kerkez, a summer arrival from Bournemouth for £40m, was brought off the bench for the Scotsman with two minutes of normal time to play on Tuesday.

Liverpool's Andy Robertson

Winter, writing on X, praised Robertson following Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid, saying the 31-year-old brings ‘intensity, belief and defensive nous’ to Slot’s side.

Robertson, as well as Conor Bradley on the opposite flank, produced a solid display against Real on Tuesday, making one key pass, completing 24 of 29 passes and winning four of his six duels.

The 'outstanding' Scotsman also chipped in with three tackles, winning one, and made three recoveries, with one of his three crosses reaching its target.

Liverpool’s defence produced a flawless performance against Real on Tuesday, with the visitors never looking certain to score and attempting just two shots on target despite their 61.2% possession.

The Reds’ victory was far more convincing than the scoreline suggests, with only a standout display from Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois preventing the hosts from adding more goals through a string of remarkable saves.

Coming off back-to-back home wins, Liverpool will next host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday before the November international break.
