West Ham’s hopes of landing Endrick have suffered a major setback. Brazilian journalist André Hernan reports that the Real Madrid forward is applying for Spanish citizenship. The process requires him to stay in an EU country until it is completed.
This rule makes a Premier League move very unlikely, even though West Ham and other English clubs remain interested. It adds a new obstacle to the 19-year-old’s situation, after reports from ESPN Brazil and GOAL Brazil revealed plans for a January 2026 loan.
Endrick and Real Madrid want a club that offers regular minutes and a high level of competition. Yet his citizenship application now limits options to countries within the European Union. Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy are seen as the most realistic destinations.
For West Ham, this news reduces their chances of success. The club viewed Endrick as a possible attacking boost for next year. But until his citizenship process is finished, a Premier League move is off the table.
