Wolves parted ways with Vítor Pereira after failing to win any of their first 10 league matches this season. They currently have two points and are bottom of the table.
The Premier League side are looking at a few options, including Erik ten Hag. Algemeen Dagblad reported yesterday that they contacted his agent on Monday.
Earlier today, NOS stated his camp have confirmed the English club’s interest, but claims of talks are premature. They weren’t certain whether this will lead into something concrete for the 55-year-old.
Sportnieuws.nl have a piece on Ten Hag, urging him to snub the Wolves job. They say a return to the Premier League would be tempting but it ‘could easily be a trap’ that could be ruinous for his future.
Ten Hag spent over two years at Manchester United, and they showed him the exit door in October 2024. He returned to management when he joined Bayer Leverkusen in July, but his stay there lasted just two league matches.
The Dutchman has been without a job since leaving the German club and has now been warned about taking over at Wolves.
Last season, Leicester City recruited his compatriot, Ruud van Nistelrooy, to help them avoid relegation. Van Nistelrooy failed and hasn’t had a job since.
Ten Hag’s ratings have dropped after last his two experiences. Therefore, there’s a Dutch belief that Wolves is too much of a gamble.
The outlet states: ‘Moving to a club like Wolves, in the middle of a season that already seems destined for disaster, seems like a recipe for failure. There’s simply no honour to be gained.’
