West Ham flop urged to ‘come home’ – Transfer seen as a ‘win-win situation’

Niclas Füllkrug should ‘come home to the Bundesliga’ from West Ham United in the January transfer window.

That’s according to SportBILD, and chief reporter Torsten Rumpf, who advocate for a return in January.

Füllkrug has been linked with a move away from West Ham in January after a miserable time at the club. His agent has even opened the door, admitting that a move would make sense. He even claimed they now accepted the move to West Ham was a mistake.

Several clubs have been linked since, particularly in the Bundesliga. Füllkrug previously shone in the division and the feeling is a return would make sense. And Rumpf agrees.

He argues that ‘money isn’t everything’ and in Germany, Füllkrug would receive the appreciation he deserves. That’s something he doesn’t get at West Ham.

This was shown under Graham Potter, who used him as a false nine. That deprived him of his greatest strengths, being in the penalty area and scoring goals. Rumpf argues this is why he’s only scored three Premier League goals to date. Injuries also haven’t helped with that.

But it shouldn’t put off German clubs. Rumpf says Füllkrug is ‘ambitious’ and will work hard to prove himself. Because of this, signing him would be a ‘win-win situation’ for any German club. Whether any move for the West Ham man, now remains to be seen.
