Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon wasted no time in naming Jacoby Brissett his starting quarterback. Perhaps Aaron Glenn will take notice.
Even after securing a first victory over the Cincinnati Bengals with Justin Fields, the New York Jets are still not looking to name a starting quarterback. Jets head coach Glenn is adamant that either Fields or backup Tyrod Taylor could take the field against the Cleveland Browns.

Coming out of the bye in Week 9, Glenn would not tell reporters who’s starting at quarterback this week in his press conference on Monday. He said: “You know I’m not going to give you that answer. I’m going to keep that close to the vest.”

Glenn engaged in another back-and-forth with the media regarding his quarterback decision. When asked if his reluctance to name a starter affects the confidence of his quarterback room, Glenn insisted: “It helps the quarterback’s confidence when the player and the coach talk and they know who the guy is.
“It’s not that I’m telling it to you guys. That has nothing to do with the player’s confidence.”
However, the Cardinals had a very different approach. After securing a strong win over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, Gannon named Brissett the starter for their Week 10 game.
Brissett impressed as he completed 21 of 31 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns as the Cardinals won 27-17. With Kyler Murray still recovering from a foot injury suffered in early October, Gannon is ready to keep rolling with Brissett.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Gannon admitted he likes how well the offense is operating under Brissett's guidance.
He said: “So, in my mind, I take all the variables that I have to make a decision and make the decision when I need to, and I think we're doing a pretty good job on offense. I like what the offense is doing right now.”
Gannon clarified that his decision to name a starter six days before the Seahawks game was because of the “clarity that it provides game-planning for our team.” He added: “We're doing the things that are needed to move the ball, stay on the field, and score points.

“And that's been good to see because we've put up some numbers here now that you would say that you should have a chance to win the game when you put up over what the points we've been putting up. So, with saying that, this week's going to be a new challenge.
“In my opinion, the tape that I've watched so far, this is the best defense that we have faced, so it'll be a big time challenge, especially at their place.”
Across his three starts, Brissett is averaging 286 passing yards per game while throwing for six touchdowns and an interception. The 3-5 Cardinals are next in action against the 6-2 Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Nov. 9.
