Much has been said about the struggles of the Green Bay Packers to stay consistent in the 2025 NFL regular season. And among those who have already voiced out their criticism of the NFC North team is former NFL defensive back and three-time Pro Bowler TJ Ward.
During a recent appearance on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, Ward did not hold back on his honest personal assessment of the Packers following Green Bay’s stunning 16-13 upset loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 9.
“I didn’t have them in my top five NFC,” said Ward, who played eight seasons in the NFL. “People was trying to shred me, and I’m like, ‘I don’t believe it’. Their wins have no merit. They didn’t say anything. There is bad teams in their back door with a bad loss. So they are who I thought they were. An average NFC team that looks good on occasions.”

On paper, Green Bay has all the talent to dominate its opponents. Even with Tucker Kraft going down with an injury, the team still features a formidable group of players. But the Packers have simply not been consistent enough on the field to silence their doubters like Ward.
After starting the season with back-to-back wins against the Detroit Lions and the Washington Commanders, Green Bay got shocked by the Cleveland Browns in Week 3 before tying with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. Following a Week 5 bye, Green Bay went 3-0, but didn’t look overpowering in wins against the Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals.
Meanwhile, fans online did not take too kindly to Ward’s take.
“He’s still crying like a [expletive] because he never beat the Packers. Had to even google who that bum was smh.,” said a fan on X.
Another one said: “Who is TJ Ward? 🤣”
From a commenter: “Buddy definitely hates the packers lol”
“Brother is on a team so bad he doesn’t know the difference between being bad and not showing up to a trap game.,” a social media user posted.
Via a different commenter: “Kay, can I come on your show next week? Since you are having on random people that don’t know what they are talking about.”
Said another: “A win against the Lions holds no merit? We can beat the eagles and this guy would still say we aren’t good, just hating”
