Wolves not considering former Benfica boss Rui Vitoria for manager’s job

Former Benfica manager Rui Vitoria has not been contacted about taking over at Wolves, the PA news agency understands.

Sources had indicated the 55-year-old, who won two Portuguese Primeira Liga titles with the Lisbon side in 2016 and 2017, had been sounded out about succeeding the sacked Vitor Pereira, but it is understood he is not currently among the contenders.

Wolves are winless at the bottom of the Premier League after 10 games and are eight points from safety, with the 3-0 defeat to Fulham on Sunday proving the final straw for Pereira, who had only signed a new three-year deal in September.
