The Football Association has charged Crystal Palace with misconduct after a controversial banner depicting Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis holding a gun next to Morgan Gibbs-White was held up by fans.
The banner, which was erected during Crystal Palace's 1-1 draw with Forest at Selhurst Park in August, read: 'Mr Marinakis is not involved in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking or corruption.'
Palace have been charged with failing to ensure that supporters did not behave improperly, offensively, abusively or provocatively.
An FA statement published on Wednesday read: 'Crystal Palace FC has been charged with misconduct in relation to its Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest FC on Sunday, August 24.
'It's alleged that the club failed to ensure its spectators and/or supporters (and anyone purporting to be supporters or followers) didn't behave in an improper, offensive, abusive, insulting and/or provocative way during the fixture.'
The Greek owner, who became the majority shareholder of the East Midlands club in 2017, has vehemently denied any wrongdoing in relation to the allegations raised on the banner.

Crystal Palace fans were furious with UEFA's decision to demote them from the Europa League and replace them with Nottingham Forest - after the club breached multi-club ownership rules
Tensions between Marinakis and Eagles supporters had reached boiling point in the wake of Crystal Palace's demotion to the Conference League, with Nottingham Forest taking the club's place in the superior Europa League tournament this season.
Palace were relegated by UEFA after being found in breach of the governing body's multi-club ownership rules — amid claims that Forest owner Marinakis had intervened prior to their unsuccessful appeal.
Anger towards Marinakis was rife among Palace fans ahead of club's first meeting with Nottingham Forest since the UEFA decision.
Gibbs-White, one of Nottingham Forest's star players, was depicted on the banner in relation to his last-gasp decision not to sign for Tottenham in the summer.
The England international was keen on the move to north London after Spurs reportedly triggered a £60million release clause in his contract — but he dramatically reversed his decision by committing his future to Forest, starring in a video alongside the Greek tycoon whom he frequently referred to as 'Mr Marinakis'.
Crystal Palace have until Tuesday to respond to the FA's charge.
