Dak Prescott’s performance against the Arizona Cardinals was nothing short of a disaster. The Cowboys quarterback struggled mightily in primetime, and naturally, an outspoken NBA champion saw blood in the water.
The Cowboys limp along at 3-5-1, their season unfolding like a soap opera nobody asked for. Prescott returned from the hamstring injury that derailed much of his 2024 campaign, but consistency feels like a foreign concept in Dallas.

“He’s getting numbers, and they stink. Dak’s a bum. They’ll never win with Dak,” Green declared on his podcast.

The four-time NBA champion wasn’t finished. He made sure everyone understood his definition of “bum” doesn’t mean Prescott lacks NFL talent. Green’s criticism cuts deeper than that.
“I won four championships. So you gotta understand when I say bum, I’m not saying Dak Prescott isn’t a good NFL quarterback. Of course, he’s a good NFL quarterback. But I’m saying, when the money’s on the line, when it’s for all the marbles, who are you? He’s a bum.”

Jordan Schultz, Green’s co-host and an NFL insider, jumped to Prescott’s defense. He pointed to the MVP-caliber statistics Prescott continues producing. Green dismissed it entirely.
“He’s been a bum in the moments! When they had their best teams, best offensive line in the league, they had all that to get to the playoffs, and he’s a bum,” Green fired back.
The playoff record tells an uncomfortable story. Prescott sits at 2-5 in postseason games, with his latest humiliation coming against Green Bay in 2023. Dallas entered that matchup as 7-point favorites and promptly got embarrassed 48-32.
Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark (97) is called for a facemask penalty while tackling Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4) during the third quarter of the wild card playoff game Sunday, January 14, 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The numbers back up Green’s harsh assessment to some degree. Prescott’s regular season passer rating of 98.2 drops to 89.8 once January rolls around.
However, the defense deserves its share of blame for those playoff exits. Dallas has routinely folded when the stakes get highest, leaving their quarterback holding the bag.
Then again, when you’re the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history, criticism from a four-time champion probably comes with the territory.
