The Oklahoma City Thunder’s defense of the NBA championship they captured last season has started off in great fashion.
With a 126-107 road win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, the Thunder remained undefeated and now sit with an 8-0 record through their first eight games this year, which marks the best start the franchise has had to a season since they made the move to Oklahoma City, as per the NBA.

OKC’s superstar guard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, has certainly had a major impact on the team’s high standard of play. And it’s probably not surprising that the 2025 league MVP has also made some impressive individual history of his own.

By finishing with 30 points, while also delivering 12 assists, in the victory over the Clippers, Gilgeous-Alexander is now on a streak of 80 consecutive games where he has put up scoring numbers of at least 20 points.

This moves the former Kentucky star ahead of Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson for the third longest streak in NBA history of consecutive 20 point game outings, as per the New York Times.

Only Wilt Chamberlain has recorded streaks that lasted for a longer span, with separate streaks of 126 straight games and 92 straight games of breaking the 20 point barrier.

Although it is still very early in the 2025-26 NBA season, SGA’s historic and MVP level production has the Thunder well on track to be a serious a threat for back to back titles.
