The Phoenix Suns’ modest two-game winning streak was snapped Tuesday night as they fell to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors 118–107 at Chase Center. Phoenix never recovered from a slow start, getting outscored 33–19 in the first quarter and struggling to consistently match Golden State’s offensive rhythm the rest of the night.
Devin Booker did everything he could to keep the Suns competitive. The All-Star guard poured in 38 points on 13-for-24 shooting and added four assists. Center Mark Williams, acquired this offseason, also delivered a standout effort. He finished with 16 points, 16 rebounds and four assists, dominating the offensive glass with nine offensive boards. Phoenix ultimately outrebounded Golden State 46–39, one of the few statistical advantages the Suns held.
Rookies Khaman Maluach and Rasheer Fleming did not play. Through eight games, the pair has appeared only four times, with three of those outings lasting five minutes or fewer. The limited usage of the team’s recent No. 10 overall pick, Maluach, raises questions about head coach Jordan Ott’s early-season rotation decisions, especially as the Suns search for consistent production.
The loss dropped Phoenix to 3–5 and, more concerningly, extended its winless road start to 0–4. The Suns continue to await the debut of guard Jalen Green, who was acquired from the Houston Rockets in an offseason trade that sent Kevin Durant out of Phoenix. Green remains sidelined with a strained hamstring but is expected to provide an offensive spark once healthy.
The Suns will have Wednesday off before returning home to host the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night, where they hope to regain momentum and halt their early-season inconsistency.
