Eintracht Frankfurt almost sealed a deadline-day move for Newcastle United forward Will Osula in the summer before the Magpies pulled the plug on the deal.
The structure of the initial deal was thought to be a loan deal with an option to buy for €25 million (£22 million), but at the 11th hour, Newcastle's owners pulled the plug, refusing to sanction any more departures following the Alexander Isak saga.
Some reports have also claimed that the deal was switched to a straight purchase, but the terms weren't thought to be favourable for Newcastle, and that's why they backed out.
Whatever the real reason, Will Osula remained at Newcastle, and it turned out to be a good thing after Yoane Wissa picked up an injury, which has kept him out of action since he signed for the Magpies.

Will Osula is still a target for Frankfurt
Eintracht Frankfurt think Newcastle are just posturing for more money for Will Osula
Newcastle have since made it clear that Will Osula will remain on Tyneside beyond January as his development this season has impressed the staff at the club.
However, Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly seen this as merely a tactic from Newcastle to push up Osula's asking price and will make another move for the Danish Under 21 star in January, according to SportBILD (via Sport Witness).
Osula has been handed much more game time this season than last, as Eddie Howe is starting to trust the forward more and more, which does suggest that we may try and keep him beyond January.

Let's keep hold of Will Osula at least until the summer
There are times when Osula does look directionless on the pitch, but there are others where you can clearly see he's got talent, and his blistering pace and desire are huge assets.
We're more than happy to keep him at the club to see how he develops for another season, or at least until the end of the current campaign.
Selling him in January would be a huge mistake, unless we bring in another striker in the winter transfer period, which isn't unthinkable given the team's struggles in front of goal this season. We do have Yoane Wissa to come back, but we still don't fully know what we're getting with him, as he has not played in this team yet. Yes, he was good for Brentford, but that means nothing.
