Anthony Gordon has endured a more challenging season and is still searching for consistent Premier League form.
The 24-year-old has struggled with both output and overall play, failing to register a goal or assist in his last 19 Premier League appearances, though he's impressed in the Champions League, with four goals and three assists. While he's expected to feature in Wednesday night's European clash with Athletic Bilbao, the real test lies in translating that output to the domestic stage.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has previously acknowledged that the winger is aware of his Premier League form and understands what's needed to improve.
"He's played very well in the Champions League. He hasn't quite hit that form in the Premier League, and that's his challenge," Howe said. "I've had many discussions with Anthony and will continue to. He's a very honest player and there's no lack of effort or commitment or desire to do well.

"He's very driven to succeed and that's one of his biggest qualities. Of course we need more from everybody in the Premier League. The league is such a high level regardless of who you play and of course there's added challenges, mentally, when you're returning from Champions League or cup games and we need to make that transition better."
Gordon has been thrown in the deep end, at times becoming Newcastle's emergency striker following the exit of Alexander Isak to Liverpool in the summer.
His sending off in the second game of the season against Liverpool for a reckless challenge on Virgil van Dijk - leading to a three-week suspension - has not helped. That disrupted the 'early-season rhythm' he'd built after training daily through the summer.
While that may have seen Gordon come under fire, his current form has not 'panicked' the club internally, the Daily Mail report. The player himself is also said to be calm over the situation and is in a 'good place.'
