Draymond Green knows something about winning when it matters most. The Warriors forward used that experience to deliver brutal criticism of Dak Prescott on his podcast this week.

“He is getting some numbers and they stink,” Greensaid on Why Is Draymond Green Talking About Football. “Dak’s a bum … They will never win with Dak.” Co-host Jordan Schultz laughed as Green dropped the harsh assessment.
Insane: Draymond Green says “Dak Prescott’s a bum.”
All due respect, but I couldn’t disagree anymore! 🤷🏻♂️ pic.twitter.com/6dvYzm4VIv

Green clarified his position when pressed about the controversial statement. He tried separating regular season excellence from championship moments. “You have to understand, when I say bum, I’m not saying Dak Prescott isn’t a good NFL quarterback,” Green explained. “Of course he’s a good NFL quarterback.”
The criticism centers on playoff performances rather than overall ability. “But I’m saying when the money is on the line, when it’s for all the marbles, who are you? He’s a bum,” Green added. That distinction matters to someone who built a Hall of Fame resume through postseason success.
Dallas dropped to 3-5-1 after Monday night’s embarrassing loss to Arizona. The Cowboys made moves at Tuesday’s trade deadline, but another playoff-less season looks inevitable. Prescott’s excellent regular season statistics won’t change the narrative surrounding his career until he delivers in January.
Green understands this dynamic better than most athletes. His four championships with Golden State came from performing under pressure when titles were on the line. Without those playoff moments, Green wouldn’t be heading to Springfield despite his defensive excellence.
Numbers Don’t Tell the Complete Story
Prescott continues posting strong statistics while Dallas struggles. The quarterback throws for big yardage and puts up impressive completion percentages. None of those numbers matter if the Cowboys miss the postseason again.
Green’s criticism echoes what many fans and analysts have said for years. Prescott looks elite until the games carry championship weight. That perception sticks until he dramatically improves his playoff record.
The Cowboys quarterback must live with this reputation until he proves otherwise. Another wasted season only reinforces what Green said on his podcast. Regular season success means nothing without postseason validation.
Green isn’t alone in questioning Prescott’s ability to win big games. The take sounds harsh but it reflects widespread skepticism about Dallas’s quarterback in crucial moments. Prescott faces this criticism everywhere until he breaks through.
The opportunity to silence critics appears unlikely this season. Dallas sits well below .500 with their playoff chances fading. Prescott won’tget the opportunity to rewrite his narrative in 2025.
Green’s comments hurt because they contain an uncomfortable truth. Championships define legacies in professional sports. Prescott’s regular season numbers look great in isolation but mean little without playoff success backing them up.
The Cowboys quarterback needs signature postseason moments to escape this criticism permanently.
