Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed the club have requested their Premier League game with Leeds United be moved to avoid playing twice in three days.
Leeds host the Eagles on Sunday December 21 and then face the prospect of taking on Arsenal in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals just two days later on Tuesday December 23. Arsenal face the same issue with their game against Everton also falling on December 21, with the Gunners having petitioned the Premier League about moving the game.
"We are trying the same thing that Arsenal are trying, to move our Leeds game [currently scheduled for Sunday 21 December] forward to Saturday [20 December], so we don't have two days between these games," said Glasner.
"We didn't get a response until now from the Premier League, just to have the same as Arsenal, if their game is moved."
The Palace v Arsenal game is the only one of the quarter-finals taking place that week, with the game delayed seven days due to Palace being in Conference League action on December 18 when taking on Finnish club KuPS.
Due to Palace playing on the Thursday night, moving the Leeds game back a day would create the same problem, but appears to be preferable to Palace, providing more time before a key quarter-final game. That would play into Leeds' hands, with Palace having little time to rest and prepare for a trip to Elland Road.
Leeds have been given a very comfortable Christmas fixture list which sees them play on December 14 at Brentford, 1st at home to Palace and then not until the 28th when facing Sunderland. The Whites then run out four days later at Liverpool on New Year's Day with a tea-time kick-off.
